Neuro-immune Crosstalk in CNS Diseases

About us

The Wan lab was established at West Virginia University School of Medicine, Morgantown, West Virginia in 2016. The overarching goal of the research group is to understand how the activation of immune system impacts the progression of neurological diseases, with current focuses on multiple sclerosis and ischemic stroke. Specifically, we are interested in identifying signaling pathways and mediators that determine the detrimental vs. beneficial effects of immune cells on the progression of neurological diseases, with the ultimate goal to develop targeted therapeutic strategies. We use animal models, cell cultures, flow cytometry, next-generation sequencing, and cutting-edge imaging techniques to address our scientific questions.
